200-day moving average screener

See which markets just crossed the 200-day moving average, which are testing it, and which are stretched far above or below it, across crypto, crypto perps, US stocks and CME futures. Choose a market above the table: crypto and crypto perpetual futures work instantly with no key, while US stocks and CME futures use your own free data key.

Crypto: daily candles from Binance’s public data. Crypto perps: OKX. US stocks and ETFs: Alpaca, with your own free key. CME futures: Massive, with your own free key. Not investment advice.

The rules

  • vs MA 200: the close against the 200-day simple moving average of daily closes.
  • Days on this side: closes in a row above (+) or below (−) the 200-day average.
  • MA 200 slope: the change in the 200-day average over the last month (21 trading days, 30 for crypto).
  • Crossed: the close crossing the 200-day in the last 5 daily closes. Testing: within 2% either side.
  • Mean reversion: 20% or more below the 200-day. Stretched: 40% or more above it.

Markets far below a falling 200-day can keep falling; mean-reversion traders usually wait for a sign of a turn, such as an RSI recovering from oversold.

Frequently asked questions

Why the 200-day moving average?

It’s the most watched long-term trend line: many funds and traders treat a market above a rising 200-day as in an uptrend, and below a falling one as in a downtrend. Crosses and tests of it often draw attention and volume.

Which markets can it scan?

Four, picked with the Market buttons above the table. Crypto (the default) scans the 250 busiest USDT pairs on Binance. Crypto perps scans the 200 busiest USDT perpetual futures on OKX. Both are free public data and need no key. US stocks scans about 600 US stocks and ETFs with your own free Alpaca key, and CME futures scans about 25 front-month CME Group contracts (stock indexes, Treasuries, oil, gas, metals, grains, livestock, currencies and CME bitcoin) with your own free Massive key.

Why do stocks and futures need a key?

Stock and futures prices are licensed data, so a website can’t hand them out for free. Alpaca (for stocks) and Massive (for futures) give anyone a free data key. Your key is saved only in your browser and sent only to that provider. See how to get a free Alpaca key and how to get a free Massive key for futures.

Is the data real-time?

Crypto and crypto perps are live from Binance and OKX, on daily candles that start at 00:00 UTC (today’s candle is still forming). Alpaca’s free stock data is 15 minutes behind the market, and Massive’s free futures plan is 8 hours delayed. Turn on auto-refresh next to the results to update the table in place every 30 seconds, minute or 5 minutes.
